When the thyroid is functioning properly, it produces hormones such as thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3), which are essential for maintaining overall health. Iodine, selenium, zinc, and iron are among the essential minerals that support thyroid function. Iodine is particularly crucial, as it is a key component of thyroid hormones.
