The guidelines are for consumers to be aware of storage time to avoid health problems.
Proper food preservation is essential to ensure food safety. There are items that are nutritious and healthy, but without proper care and handling can pose risks.
And when it comes to eggs, for example, the issue of maximum storage time in the refrigerator is crucial to avoid health problems.
These items are highly perishable and sensitive to contamination by bacteria such as Salmonella. Therefore, it is important to know how long you can safely store them in the refrigerator.
But what is the maximum time that eggs can be stored in the refrigerator? One study revealed
Health authorities emphasize that the maximum storage time may vary depending on hygiene conditions, the initial quality of the eggs and the temperature of the refrigerator.
According to a study published by the United States Department of Agriculture, the egg can stay inside the appliance for 3 to 5 weeks.
“Eggs can be refrigerated for three to five weeks from the day they are placed in the refrigerator. The expiration date usually expires during this time, but the eggs will be perfectly safe to use. Always buy eggs before the expiration date or expiration date indicated on the box. To keep them safe, take the eggs straight home and store them immediately in the refrigerator at 5°C or slightly below. Leave them in their packaging and place them in the coldest part of the refrigerator rather than the door. After hard cooking, the eggs can be stored for a week in the refrigerator”, states the department in an official note published on its website.
